Course Description
All classes will be taught by our tutor Rebecca Fisher.
Our approach is based on the principle that everyone is an artist if provided with the opportunity, materials and inspiration. Rebecca encourages children of all ages to experiment with different materials, techniques and media. We also learn from and discuss a wide range of artists and artistic movements. Combining technical guidance and play, her classes prove that with the freedom to be creative and take artistic risks, in a safe and non-competitive setting, children can take the lead in making their own artistic discoveries. And with this independence to make their own decisions about what they make, and how, they are more able to find their own unique forms of self-expression. This has many benefits in other aspects of their lives, such as self-esteem, confidence and social skills.
Each class will be based around different activities, but children are welcome to work on their own ideas or projects at any point (for example, if they are building a portfolio for school or have a particular technique they want to develop).
During our classes we will:
– Experiment with a variety of media, such as acrylic paint, watercolour, ink, charcoal, pencils, pastels, modroc and recycled materials
– Learn new skills and techniques that help us with drawing, painting, print-making, sculpture and mixed-media
– Be inspired by each other and other artists
At the end of the school year we hold an exhibition – open to the public – featuring the best of the kids’ work!
Aprons will be provided but we would recommend that children wear old clothes as they will make a mess!
Please book as many sessions as you would like.
If you have booked onto a class that we are unable to run, and your child is unable to attend another session, we will refund you in full. If you are unable to make a session one week you are welcome to come to a session on another day - just let Rebecca know beforehand.
